"Picture Yourself Reading" Photo Contest
RULES:
* Limit of two entries per teen grades 7-12
* Photos must be taken by a teen and they must be of children/teens/adults/animals reading.
* Each photo must have a name and phone number on the back and be accompanied by a signed entry form (forms are available in the teen area at the library).
*Photos may be in black and white or color.
* Photos may not be larger than 5"x7"; glossy prints preferred.
* Prizes will be awarded!!
* All entries must be received by Friday, July 31st
Winners will be announced on Thursday, August 13th. All photographs will be displayed at the library during the month of September.
Summer Programs for Teens
A Single Shard Book Club
Tuesdays from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Beginning July 7th
Teens will have the opportunity to read and discuss the Newbery Award winning book A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park. Potter Sharon Leary, will then demonstrate the art of making ceramic pots and participants will be encouraged to try skills themselves while making their own pots. We will have the pots fired at the end of the summer and then display them at the library. Registration is required for this program.
Kids n' Teens Knit
Thursday Mornings at 10:30 a.m. Beginning July 9th
Come and learn to knit! Everyone who participates will be working on an 8x8" square which will then be send overseas and made into a blanket through the Knit-a-square program. More information can be found online at www.knit-a-square.com Registration is required for this program.
Teen Reading Competition
While you read and relax this summer make sure you review! Review forms can be filled out for any book or graphic novel you have read this summer. Reviews can submitted in the "Express Yourself" jug in the teen area. Names will be drawn each week for a variety of prizes.

Teen Summer Reading Competition
This summer as you read and relax, make sure you review!
For each book that you read this summer fill out one of the teen review forms and drop it in the "Express Yourself" jug located in the teen area. Each week at least two reviews will be drawn and prizes given. Let us know what books you loved and hated! The first drawing will be held the week of July 6th.
Read a lot or read a little. You could win either way!

Volunteers
Just a reminder...
The orientation meeting for teens who want to volunteer at the library this summer is next week Thursday, June 18th at 7:00. If you cannot be at the meeting but you are still interested in volunteering please let me know ASAP and we can make other arrangements.
Volunteer forms are still available at both the GCS media center and here at the library.
